As Halloween fast approaches, pumpkins and decorations begin to emerge and children begin to ooze of fake blood, scary teeth and general gore. It is probably a good time to start thinking about what to do in terms of throwing an awesome, devilishly scary party that your kids and all their friends will remember for a long time to come. Keep reading and find everything you need to know in order to make sure this Halloween is the scariest and most fun yet.

Spooky Games

Games at any Halloween party are a must. They’re not only be a great way for children to burn off some excess energy, but a fun way to get adults involved too! Here are a few ideas:

  • Costume Contest (For children and grown up’s) – Get all of the party guests to walk a scary catwalk, adding their scariest pose at the end. The winner gets a spooky prize! You can even host an adults only version later in the evening. Try adding some music; suggestions for a spooky playlist can be found later in this post.
  • Dance Competition – A firm favorite and a way to ensure all that excess energy is burnt off. Play some songs and add a variation to the standard musical statues whereby the children have to freeze when the music stops and pose with their scariest face. This can be a great photo opportunity!
  • Stick the pumpkin on the zombie (Caution: lots of tissue involved!) – Kindly ask one parent to become a “zombie” and print out an image of a pumpkin. Blindfolded, each child must try to stick the pumpkin on the zombie’s back. The one who gets closest to the centre of the zombie’s back wins!

Costumes

Every little boy and girl wants to look as scary as possible on Halloween. Ounces of fake blood, ghostly white face paint or cute pumpkin dress up costumes are a must to ensure that every child fits the theme. There are some great costumes available on the market but there’s no reason why you can’t get creative and make your own too! Here are a few of Eddie’s favorite designs for you to get inspired:

Party Food

No party is complete without some scary snacks for the children to enjoy throughout. Why not let the children prepare their own “scary face” pizza by placing out a range of toppings and allowing them to use these to create the scariest face possible?

To make a healthy dessert fun for everyone, introduce a quick but very entertaining ‘Apple Bobbing’ competition whereby each child has to retrieve their own apple.

The Playlist

And because we all know an amazing soundtrack is a party must, here are a few of Eddie’s favorite tracks, sure to be played during his Annual Halloween celebrations:

  • Ghostbusters
  • Monster Mash
  • Witch Doctor
  • The Time Warp
  • The Addams Family

These are just a few suggestions to help you get the party started, but Eddie would certainly love to find out which other songs you would add so please do feel free to share them on either Facebook or Twitter using the hash tag #funwitheddie.

Pumpkin Carving

Last but not least, Halloween cannot go without the obligatory carving of a pumpkin. We are sure your kids will be more than willing to help you with this so, if you haven’t got yours yet, hurry up! Not long till the spooky celebrations!

Once carved, place it outside your front door with some lanterns inside and children will know they can come and Trick ‘n’ Treat you on October 31st!
